Loved L'enclume bbc.co.uk available in other streaming places but think I would have preferred the short tasting menu rather than the full one. It was a lot of very delicious food. Lakes 5 day orienteering 2018. Rained pretty much all week except a day on Askham Fell. Day 1 up Grasmere was horrific. No paths, low cloud.

Not yet booked, phal, but there are still spaces for lunch on each of the days we will be there. I'm leaning towards Sunday. What's better - the full 8 course lunch menu or the full tasting menu? The tasting menu is only available until 1:15pm and I think that might be a bit early for us. I'm sure it's all wonderful anyway!

The full tasting menu was good and one of my favourites dishes was on that one but it seemed a little excessive and would just do the 8 next time. No regrets and was a nice treat but I do remember getting full!

Ok, so we’ve booked for an early lunch on Sunday which gives us the option of either menu, and we are on the waitlist for dinner on 3 evenings, just in case. If we only get lunch I’ll be more than happy.

Our kids bought us a voucher for a tasting lunch at L'Enclume as a combined Silver Wedding and Christmas gift - we're going next month - only a year late. Would never consider going somewhere so smart/expensive normally but am looking forward to it.

stilldreaming - I expect the trains to still be going midweek in September - there's nothing on their website to suggest they won't - but we are still in strange times so who knows?

I'd better not tell mum about that one, otherwise I can see another trip will be required :)

We got SO full. We had the full tasting menu and our only thing we’d change was we started too late at 8pm. I had to keep getting up to walk around 🤣 but I can still picture and remember the dishes eight years on…. It’ll be amazing, whatever you choose!
