No, we stayed well away from Keswick on Sunday. He may have been spotted in Caldbeck :)

I started a thread but it has been suggested that I also post here.

We are staying in Allonby, Cumbria for a week from this Friday - any recommendations for walks, running routes, good ice cream and gluten free cake/food? Runs need to be predominantly flat as my knees object otherwise but walks can be a bit more challenging - circular routes or lollipops preferred.

Thanks.

Silloth - just a few miles up the coast. Bit like going back 40 years - but there's a nice long promenade.

Hann, Saturday Keswick was utterly rammed. Sunday it was quieter. My son was there on Thursday and said it was empty. However he said Ambleside was packed all last week.

There's a splendid ice cream shop in Allonby, LMH. Twentyman's. Often queued all the way up the road. Not sure what Jack's Surf Bar and The Codfather are like for gluten free offerings. The cycle path along the coast has just opened all the way from Allonby to Silloth, and there was already a path from Allonby to Workington and beyond, all very flat. The small roads just inland from the coast are also quiet and good for running. I'd offer to come and run with you, but I suspect your knees wouldn't like my sluggish running pace and tbh you won't need any help finding routes from Allonby.

Silloth and Maryport both have plenty of eateries.
