Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I was up on the path between the Pikes and Bowfell a couple of weeks ago. The choppers had just dropped off massive loads of sheepskins for the path works

I fancy a working holiday with FTF/NT - I really should organise that for next year if not later this - I've been saying I will for ages.

I think it says a lot about the value of a fleece at the moment! 15p/kg for white wool ... 5p/kg for lesser wool like Swaledale (Farmers' Weekly). It's good that a use is being found for these fleeces, but heartbreaking that as a product for clothing etc, our wool is so undervalued.

The penny has just dropped. I remember seeing builders bags of fleeces out on the fells and wondering what they were for, it was in exactly the same area as Homer mentioned - east of Pike O'Stickle.

A new one on me

I’ve spent 39 in and around textiles and wasn’t aware of this end-use for wool. It is an amazing fibre with many interesting properties

Look Northern Fells-ish to me.
