Armboth Fell. Still. To. Do.
If only to stop it always being at the top of my to-do list (when sorted by distance away).
Maybe if there's no more rain between now and mid-June we'll give it a go

I must confess to contributing to the general mayhem around the Keswick area last week. Did a low level valley walk around High Rigg on Tuesday, then Maiden Moor and High Spy on Wednesday. First walks since October, so good to be out

You could always wait for the cold weather R4R The Armoth fells are delightful when they're frozen over and there's no midges/ticks.

Totally agree with NE. Either 'dry' like now or bitterly cold and the bogs frozen over.

Thank you to those of you who asked for more info on the Borrowdale route I posted about yesterday. Rather than my answering everyone individually, please find a bit of mappage below that shows the line I took. And just to clarify, I totally made up "Exile's Leap" and "Bobsy's Folly", they are just unnamed tops, albeit worthwhile - sorry for any confusion. Pic of Bobs below holding up the ornamental cairn on "Exile's Leap". I guess that's White Howe in the background, looking over towards Bannisdale.

Synge those slabs may look great now but how long before they start sinking/tilting etc? I don't know of any slab pathway across peat that has existed for any length of time without that becoming a problem. And that's before I get started on how lethal most slabbed paths are when wet or icy if you're moving at any speed! I'm not sure what the answer is but I'm not convinced it's paths like that. I'd sooner take my chances with the bogs and get wet/mucky.

ff (or anyone else who might know) - what is your experience of the paths that are floated on bogs using sheep fleece as a base?
Just while we're on paths, sorry to vear slightly off topic.
There's been some interest in these on various Facebook horse groups I'm on as a way to help manage horses on wet land. It seems like a good idea but I would query longevity and how they stand up to heavy footfall. Particularly heavy hoof fall, but that is less relevant to Lakeland paths!

I've never heard of using sheep fleece in this way before.
