Route through Milnthorpe should be open - but will likely be busier than usual.

The advantage, for me, of A1/A66 is that I can stock up at Cranston's (Penrith junction) on my way. First trip up this year we'd ordered click and collect, not sure if they're still doing it though. Cranston's is usually less busy than Booth's, though obviously much smaller range.

NE, I’ve only ever visited Eskdale 2-3 times so hopefully a couple of days will give me a good tour of it.

My favourite valley in the Lakes. You can recce part of the 100 route while you're there, and I'm sure the hounds would love a trek up the Scafells while you're at it

That's a good idea D. There's a nice route from the YHA up to Slight Side and then onto the Scafells, only done it the once on a [failed] Gerry Charnley attempt. Is it called the Terrace Route or something?

Done the route before. I won’t be past Scafell with the hounds in tow. I’m not sure how they cope down climbing Broad Stand 😉

The firs time I did the route I had Scafell and an inversion to myself.

Hmm. That round looks doable even for me. 35 miles is just about manageable and it's not a huge amount of climbing (although obviously significant).
