I might finally recognise you when I see you now - no guarantees, though, I find 2-D vs 3-D a bit tricky...

A word of warning to anyone heading to the lakes for a holiday who likes to eat out ... plan and book your meals before you come, we’ve had to adjust our eating times to main meal at lunchtimes , getting here and deciding where you fancy eating in the evening as you would have done in the past is a non starter, in a lot of places it’s also busier than a sunny bank holiday in peak season ... we had been warned but still can’t quite believe how busy it is , Elterwater common for example has cars littered on every bit of tarmac like I’ve never seen and I’ve been coming here for years .. 😥 I’ll be glad when all the “new tourists” can go back to holidays in Benidorm 😜

That's 100% right, sound advice. I was in Langdale yesterday and was surprised at just how busy it was, Ambleside was rammed and as Gromit says every spare inch of parking was taken around Elterwater. Parking in Langdale itself was tight. We came off the fells around 6.30pm and it was much quieter, Stickle Barn car park was nearly empty.
The popular fell tops were very busy with some exceptionally slow moving traffic. Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle crowded. Loft Crag deserted though. Had PoB and Wrynose fell to ourselves though.

Heard a similar story from my physio yesterday - stayed in Eskdale at the weekend. Spent 2 hours getting too Wasdale (& back), roads apparently as good a blocked by people parked on the sides. Gave up any thoughts of Scafell.

To echo what Gromit said - when we were there at the beginning of the month, we ended up eating at the B&B where we were staying for all 3 of the evenings, as we couldn't book a table anywhere else unless we were prepared to eat around 5 o'clock or after 9. As it was, we had to eat at 6:15 one night and after 8 on the others. Our friends at Keswick Boot Store said if they plan to eat out, they book about a fortnight in advance - hardly viable if you just do a spur-of-the-moment midweek break
