I also have some lined curtains from the old Cavern. And swathes of lined heavyweight brocade curtain from a big bay window that was of not interest to anyone else but too good to throw away. I may find a way to repurpose it.

They drop isn’t enough to hang from a door. I’m sure they can be useful for something like a draft excluder though

They who keep things, have/benefit from things as we say in the Netherlands. I kept stuff for years in the shed etc and was able to kit out my new building without having to buy loads of stuff. Old blinds, cabinets, book shelves etc have all been made to fit and be used somewhere. It doesn't even look too patchy. But... I MUST fill, repair, undercoat and paint the two windows I was given, double glazed! Before winter sets in...

By the way, I can see myself more or less living in my new building come winter: it is Passiv and doesn't require heating.

Yay! I have a small oil filled, thermostat controlled radiator. It kept things steady before I had my doors, double glazed panels and insulating black out blinds. They have kept things cool in the heatwave so I trust, if they can keep 40 degree heat at bay, they can keep heat in in winter

The single most helpful thing is to just not buy anything... Even if it is a bargain... Mend and make do! About to use gorilla 2 component glue to re-waterproof a pair of wellies and stick a sole of my workboot on before it actually comes off. Then my friend will help patch up my jeans. I am actually taking pleasure in that for now. Work boots are £125 so the longer I can make them last, the better! They typically last four years...

Agree on a personal level, however it will crash the economy in a big way.

I know jda... It is seriously worrying! I work free lance and have to put my rates up... I cannot go up by more than £1/hr as I fear my clients will otherwise have to stop use my services as everything gets more expensive. This morning I have been cancelling subscriptions I have had for ages... If everyone does that, things go out of business, like "the highstreet" during and post Covid... I cannot help but feel we are purposefully being driven into a society not of our making or choosing. We can probably all do with consuming less, but consuming nothing is a bad thing!
