Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Octopus may have solved our dual meter confusion problem, they blame it on Bulb for confusing the meters originally (which happened several years ago) and then possibly applying some sort of hack to swap the readings that didn’t transfer properly when they took over. We will see what happens with future bills. For the time being we’re a few hundred quid better off though.

Now that winter is over (supposedly) and I guess the saver sessions are done, I have redeemed my Octopus points. Just shy of £20, for very minor inconvenience. Can't complain.

I've requested £400 credit back from Octopus and to reduce DD from £60 to £30 to stop building up credit. They have OK'd both and say should happen within a few days. :-) G

I'll sign up for the saver sessions with Octopus when they start up again.

Happy - hope that refund arrives quickly. 😀

It took them a little while to process my refund request but they do get there in the end.

I did a saver session with SO energy but you don't get money back, you just get entered into a draw to maybe win an amazon voucher - does not give enough incentive for me to bother again.

Shell also did prize draw entries, didn't win anything. Shell sold out to Octopus so I'm hoping to make a couple of quid next winter.

SO tried to use their prize draw as an incentive to get me to book a smart meter appointment, but the timing and nature of the saver sessions means I'd never save enough to even qualify for the draw, so for the moment the cons of a smart meter still outweigh the pros.

Pros - don't have to submit readings any more, a task that takes all of 2 minutes and is no bother at all.

Cons - appointment booking system means I'd have to miss a whole day of work for the meter installation, and access requirements would mean missing another day of work sorting out the chaos in cellar where the electricity meter is!

There'll need to be better savings available for me to go for it I'm afraid.

We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?
