Yeah, that was good news Fozzy - esp along the motorway network etc. And public transport investment too.

Kia Kona or Hyundai Ioniq look a good deal for slightly larger ones. Corsa and 208 are expensive. Is the Zoe much smaller than those too? I'll keep looking. :-) G

Vehicle-to-grid is definitely a thing: en.wikipedia.org

There are some trials in the UK. This for example: bbc.co.uk

But I'm pretty sure that (at the moment) it is all consent-based, the energy company doesn't just help itself to your charge.

Storing energy in car batteries from overnight "green" sources which don't need switching off, not hugely dissimilar to the old problems with big carbon fuelled power generators which were expensive to switch on / off.

Makes huge sense for EVs that noctural "excess" power is used during the days.

:-) G, the Zoe is smaller, but as I recall, it's not really tiny.
I haven't looked at one in this iteration of my buying cycle - I looked about 6-9 month ago (the last time my current car had a wobble). I seem to think* it was the one without footwells in the back, which seemed a bit weird - but that only matters if you intend on having passengers in the back very often.

On the same sort of size as the Kona, you also have the Kia Niro (if you can forgive the annoying de Niro adverts). It claims 300 miles of range, but as a result, I think it's a bit more than the Hyundais.

Well that was fun. Tried Hyundai Kona and MG ZS. Both were fine. Some cheapy lease deals on the Kona, so going for that. Hello electric motoring! (in 6-8 weeks when darn thing can get delivered!) :-) G

300 mile range (claimed, it's a 64kWh battery though, so pretty decent) and it's bigger than a fiesta/corsa supermini type car, which is a bonus. Pretty ugly and drives like a crate (compared to my BWM 4 series!) but zero emissions for me, miss. :-) G
