The MG4 arrived yesterday - without a granny charger! (They've stopped supplying them now, with lease cars at least.) Scrambling to get hold of one of those, and also booked a charger installation with Octopus - Ohme epod - and switched to EV tariff with Eon. REALLY nice to drive - though I had to nail my left foot to the floor. |

Was Eon tariff much lower than Octopus I_M? No granny charger seems weird. I think of it as a backup "use anywhere" solution? ![]() |

@runnyeyes congrats on the ex30 purchase. Totally agree that they are the best drive of all the Volvos. They did rush out the release a little bit so you might find a few bugs (radio goes off when you put the brakes on, for instance!!). The whole locking / opening thing is a massive pain but I’d say it’s worth it. About to take ours to parkrun but post here is there’s any q’s I can help with. Enjoy!! |

Thanks @Windsor Wool White with a black roof. (And with a retractable tow bar. Nice for the bike ride rack)

A bit more of an adventure this weekend, I took the boy down to stay at my parents' house while they weren't there, to watch the football. It's not always as plain sailing as I'd like but it worked out in the end. For some bizarre reason, the car had only charged to 66% overnight, but timings were such that I'd need to stop for tea anyway, so we set off and got to Grantham to charge at the Gridserves there. A KFC later and we were back on the road, but I'd underestimated how much charge we'd need, so we had to make a toilet stop at Birchanger as well and gave myself a buffer of about 10% so I could get to the village car park and charge. There are four chargers in the village car park, two were in use and the other two were out of service. 10% wasn't going to be enough to get to Bromley and back so I knew I'd need to charge. I decided that the best course of action would be to go to the hotel a mile away for lunch on the Saturday and head off to Bromley from there. It turns out that there are two chargers at the hotel that are 50kw but cheaper than the 7kw ones in the village car park, so that plan worked, albeit that the direct route there was closed due to bridge works and we had to instead follow a 4 mile detour. We had lunch at the hotel and then we could also watch the first half of Forest v Brighton in the Sports Bar, so it actually worked out OK, and I managed to get the car up to 98% before we needed to leave. Bromley and back was fine, I couldn't use the village chargers again, though, and there was no chance of me making it back to Grimsby on a full charge, so I decided a trip to Bluewater would help, we could lunch on all the fries at Five Guys and do a bit of shopping. Sadly that wasn't quite enough power to get me home and I actually limped in to the new services at Newark with 5% to spare - really didn't fancy stopping at Grantham again, as I was saying to the boy, I don't dare think about how much money I've handed over at that service area since moving north 25 years ago! So, I managed to get through a weekend with no local access to charging at all, and although it cost a pretty penny, it's definitely doable in extremis. Which is good news for our family trip to the Isle of Wight at Easter... |

I'm heading to Cornwall at the weekend and been looking at chargers en route. Have any non Tesla owners used the Tesla chargers? I know it's possible but not sure how straightforward it is. I have a 2019 BMW i3 with CCS connector. Thank you! |

My friend uses them with his i4 and says they are quicker and cheaper (48p rather than 78p). Only one I tried to use wouldn't let me! Happy travels! ![]() |
