Just moved jobs, HappyG.

I will be swapping car next June.

See how it goes but my monthly mileage should be around 1,200 (combination of work and leisure). I may even commute via train as work is 0.5 mile from the station and my house is just over 1 mile.

Thinking about it again, will I ever recoup the vastly inflated purchase price for the plug-in hybrid?

It goes completely against the eco ambition but I reckon adding everything up the Octavia 2 litre diesel is the cheapest to run?

Folk with Combined Charging System (CCS) or the Type 2 AC part at the top for home charging - does having it "stretched" cause problems when charging?

Last night I had it a metre or two further from the wall box than usual and it reached but only just (I should have rolled car back a metre or two but was too lazy!) It was quite taut!

Overnight, instead of putting in 20kWh in 4 hours (From 70% to full) it only put in about 4kWh. Looks like it wasn't working 00:30 to 04:00 - only did a half hour 04:00-04:30. (It's on the timer to only work 00:30-04:30).

I'll try and plug it in better from now on and hopefully won't happen again! :-) G

Noticed that that Octavia is supplied with two cables: One 13-amp the other the 'proper' one. As discussed previously the downside of the 13-amp is that it takes forever to charge?

FR, yes, mine came with the two cables.

13A aka the Granny cable (because you could use it anywhere, even your granny's? Or because it's super slow, like one's granny?!) It charges at 3.0kW so 64kWh takes 20 plus hours.

A home charger is 32A charges at 7.2kW so 9 hours (i.e. overnight) will fully charge it.

My car charged fine last night. I do wonder if the stretched cable was the problem the night before. Not doing that again!

FR, how big is the battery in the hybrid you are looking at?

Is it 13kWh so 44 miles? If so, then even the 13A 3pin plug would charge it fully in a few hours (13kWh divided by 3.0kW so 4 hours ish?) :-) G

I've just asked for a granny cable to be supplied when I pickup the new car. Even though I have the home charge point installed - I just want to be on the safe side.

In my car (Hyundai Kona) the granny cable is buried in with the jack and things under the boot to use in emergency only! I tried it once when I first got it and it worked fine. :-) G

It's an optional extra for me! Though I've asked what is the best price that they can it for me!

It doesn't hurt to try!

I didn't get mats with mine! It's weird when you lease because you can't really specify extras, as it really complicates things! I bought some generic mats for under 20 quid. :-) G
