Quite right too WS. When I took my mum to Swansea on Wednesday (temperature 30*) K endedup having to drive home with the AC turned off because no matter how I adjusted the vents and controls, my mum complained of the cold. I was nearly comatose by the time we got home.

I think he remembers me saying 'rain' or 'cold' for most of the last 4 years when he asks me about the weather.

In an earlier comment I expressed my ire about the lack of support from the local holy person given my in-laws had gone to church multiple times a week for 87 years. After an incident this week I went up to the church to see what other help might be available from someone i think my FiL might listen to (as I assume churches have some sort of community support). It transpires that he has been offering to come around and give MiL communion and so forth for about a year and FiL has been saying no!! I enlightened the chap and he has been around today to see them and is back tomorrow (one front of many that we are working on). Been a difficult couple of weeks despite the carers starting.

Had a quick phone call from my sister to say my dad's neighbour phoned her - dad been taken into hospital today so don't know the ins and outs yet. Seemingly the house is a tip as well :-(

Oh dear LG, and he's a long way away from you, isn't he. Hope you get more news soon.

I'm so not surprised to hear that about the church people, Tomahawk. Oldies are quite resistant to letting people see just how in need of help they are. Maybe it's how they got to be oldies, having that determined and independent streak.

I hope that things aren't too bad LG.

Well done for persevering Mike.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
