I think we have a situation developing. MiL regularly has blood in her urine. I can think of at least two cystoscopies, maybe more. Always results in no issue being found, but she did beat bladder cancer i would guess about 20 years ago.

There has been blood for a While again and GPs called but nothing done. The GP was back out in the week and after blood tests say she needs a blood transfusion urgently and wanted us to take her in yesterday

Mrs axe explained the lift issue and we cannot get her there and it will need a couple of burly ambulance guys with the right training and kit to get her down two flights of stairs.

BiL remains in failure to respond to communication mode.

It’s a shame that she is basically trapped in her own home because her son is an arse.

Hopefully they can find a solution to getting her there

To be fair her son isnt the cause of her being trapped, thats the broken lift. We paid for the repairs around 6 weeks ago, but as yet nothing has been done. It was put out of action around mid January after a carer was trapped in it.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
