at least he took action and didn't do what my mum would do and see how he was in the morning!

parents are such a concern

Talking of my mother - saw her yesterday and despite her at one point saying how her ribs hurt there was no visible evidence of her fall so I am inclined to be with LMH and hint that she may have exaggerated the truth a bit

hugs to all that need it

Yes and unless he was at risk of passing out in the car, driving there seems a reasonable option.

It's not the best choice but better than ignoring it.

The news is she's out of surgery and awake. They may let her out later but they did warn to expect 6 or so hours of recovery

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
