Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
Confirmation from oncology that the lumps seen in scans in Aug, October and November are growing and in both lungs and hence cancer. All sorts of help now kicks in with diagnosis of untreatable cancer, which is good. Mum is no worse than she was before so it's all fine.

Bazo sorry to hear about MiL falls. Does sound like she needs morr constant care that a home would give.

Aw that’s sad news Happy but as long as mum is no worse for the time being then that’s good news.

Hugs Happy. We found that palliative care was excellent. Hope you do too.

Baz, I don't know how you and MrsAxe manage.

As am I. Glad she's not suffering, though. That's a bonus.

I hope your mum gets all the care she needs Happy.

The situation with your MIL is getting untenable Baz. Would it be worth Mrs Baz calling MiL's GP and seeing if they will take any action?

That sounds so tough Baz, especially with BiL’s mental health issues complicating things! Your description of your MIL’s determination to give you biscuits reminded me of my dad’s determination to stand up to greet visitors which used to terrify us in his final months!

Sorry to hear your news HG. I hope the palliative care is good.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
