Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

So, inflation hits 11.1% officially, will that affect tomorrows announcements?

Probably not in my view, but when and where will the peak be?

I think it largely depends on the gas price. If that goes down, inflation goes down, if that goes up inflation goes up. Over generalisation but that is the main actor. War in Ukraine and how Russia exits the war. If Putin is removed will the West find a way to work with Russia again? If Russia pay reparations for Ukraine war, it will be paid for by selling gas and oil to the west, but only if we can cuddle up to a new leader/regime. Until all that happens I think we are utterly at the merci of the gas (and oil) price.

We need to get the electric price rates decoupled from the gas price, that would help.

I keep reading stuff that says the peak has just about been reached. A problem that may scupper that will be what Hunt does in terms of helping people with energy bills. It is thought, I.e. leaked, he ain't doing that much, given current problems with energy and food are built in. It will decrecreae pretty quickly across the whole of next year.

But really, who flipping knows!

I think, he says putting his prescription prediction glasses on, bank interest rates are going up again, that ought to push inflation down further.

By how much and how quickly?

How's your crystal ball?

0.5% rate rise seems to be being touted, i feel that might be a bit much
