I need to start a new book tonight. It’s not a proper spring newt, but after Christmas I started reading for half an hour in bed every night. Last year I think I probably read about 3 books. So far this year I’ve read 17 (partly because I discovered you can record them on Good Reads and I bloody love being able to record things in a list and tick them off.)

So today's Newt is that I've entered Mr AL & myself in the Manchester to Liverpool Bike Ride which is in July. Mr AL did it some years ago with a team from school and really enjoyed it. He said the atmosphere was terrific - non-competitive, all kinds of bikes and riders there. It will hopefully spur me on to do some longer rides as the weather improves :)

Mazlin - Fetchies ( and probably runnners/runnersy types in general) are demons for the motivation of stats, lists, recorded challenges et al.

17 already is a huge leap from 3 mind you!

So many good newts. Tempted by HP's bike, Jen's Commonwealth Games, and AL's bike ride, but for sheer personal inspiration, it has to be WA's resignation.

About This Thread

Most of you know the score. Much in the bizarre way Easter has come to mean Chocolate, Lent is mainly thought of as an opportunity to Give Up Chocolate. At least until Easter. You know what I mean, 'What are you giving up for Lent?' * I say NO to this. Away with the hair shirts and the deprivation. Let's embrace change and the NEW. Spring is a time of renewal - and restoration.

Soooooo..... you don't have to take up indoor sky diving like my partner's 90 year old mot...
