This is why I bought a hydration vest in vraps recommendation - she's a bad influence

I wear a T shirt over a long sleeve base layer, because the base layer is tight and T shirt is baggy. Also the base layer is liable to be black and the T shirt hi viz. The T shirts invariably come from races and if it's not warm enough to go out with bare arms it's the perfect combo. I'm not a fan of the baggy shorts over tight shorts thing though. I have a pair. I just get hot in them. No way ever in this world EVER would I be caught alive in a skort. Although I suppose it would be a newt... Nope, can't do it. I have once worn shorts over leggings when it was very, very cold and I'd only packed quite thin leggings for my trip to my parents' house, not expecting ankle deep snow. 2010 that was. Christmas day. My first ever parkrun.

You won't convince me on beetroot either. Bleeeuuurgh.

Before lunch I had a cunning plan of wearing a different bra for my run so that I could stay in kit for afternoon break/post work strength session. Reason being my Enell is super supportive for running and great for hours of running but not hours of sitting at a desk
I've now had to undo my bra as it's hurting ... failed newt!

Flanci do leggings, capris, shorts and skorts with a back zipped pocket and a thigh pocket for your phone. They are amazing as well. I have a couple of skorts and one on the way and many leggings :)

I also bought a fab running top from WAA Ultra, it has pockets - my justification is I need lots of pockets with stuff to hand for my upcoming ultra in June. I love it.

Ok. I love pockets. I carry an entire life support system in my track BAG.

However:
Sometimes need my key with me when I'm out training. Clean Pocket Handkerchief can be stuffed up my sleeve or in front of tights...

*plays devil's advocate*

WTAF do you lot put in all these extra pockets when you're, like, running? Do blokes need skorts?

I quite like the way I look in a skort, that’s all I can say really. I have a Flanci one but it’s more subdued than most of them. I like the big pocket at the back.

Just had a read back, wow you've all been so busy!! newt'ing. As a new Newt Jingler thank you for the distraction and chats, I love seeing what everyone has been up to (I keep looking back over the years too)

I have to say I was unsure about skorts until SantaBaby shared pics on FB, I love them. I do wear shorts as well, the dual layer ones, not confident enough for lycra shorts. We have a good Fetchie Flanci following.

Pothunter just wanted to say fantastic re your grandmothers memoirs, our great Aunt had done similar a number of years ago, it took me too many years to read it as it passed from pillar to post. I returned it in the January and she died in the April. Devastated. She had a book of old postcards someone had bought her and she wrote out her memories of each picture. I loved the conversations as she talked to me about the memories. Unreal to think it was only 2 generations apart. I miss her and Uncle so much.

GM I love BBC good food for the recipes, type in an ingredient and hey presto new ideas galore :)

That first line answer is one I can accept, jenny. You know what I'm like. Am girl who wears lippy and earrings to train in. (Am not alone, certainly not in London)

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
