A spring like newt for me today - I have just run down a footpath in our village which I probably haven't been along for a week or so and the crocuses were in flower all the way along it on both sides which they weren't last time I was there.
I might make trying to grow beetroot a newt jingle for our new garden. I am going to grow vegetables and herbs, BaronBR will look after all the existing plants and lawns and Wanda will have her own 'dog area' although she will be allowed in the rest of the garden too once she has established what the 'dog area' is for!

I dunno about shorts/skorts, but I’m a fan of short sleeved tops over long sleeved tops. I’ve no idea why though. Again, what’s the point?

I also have been know to wear shorts over leggings. But only if I’m wearing leggings with holes in and I need to leave the house and be seen in public.

Am doing something new.
Am calling out a thread member. SHOCK HORROR
You are absolutely not allowed to say 'Everyone else’s (newts) are far more interesting.'
That is very naughty and patently not true and I won't stand for it. Everyone knows you are a brilliant person and - as Raffo's infant schoolteacher once famously said - 'An asset to any group' xxx

I also wear shorts over leggings to run in from time to time - but mainly because I don't like running just in shorts and so any combination that keeps my legs completely covered is acceptable to me. I occasionally make an exception to this in July or August if the temperature is really hot - although if it is that hot it would probably be too hot for running anyway!

I know, Sharkie! I am on record as saying I hate skorts, they're as stupid as those swimsuits our mums used to wear with little skirty bits at the front, presumably for "modesty". But when everything else is drab and miserable, if I can cheer up the place by scampering around wearing a skirt that looks as if it was designed for a toddler I'll do it.
Besides, BIG POCKETS. Lots of big pockets

Short sleeve tops over long sleeved tops make sense because it provides extra warmth over for the torso without extra restriction on the arms - same logic as having a gillet or suchlike.
I only usually wear shorts over leggings/other shorts if a) it's too cold for shorts alone but my leggings don't have pockets and I want to take a key without putting it in my bra or ii) I'm rugbying and the second row need something to grab when we bind in the scrum. having two layers comes in handy, then.
Loose short shorts on their own are not the friend of the runner with well padded thighs.
