It was a milestone but I'd be the first to admit that I'm not a great stepmother and in 20 years, I haven't encouraged either of my stepsons to treat me as their mother. Unfortunately for them, their own mother is much worse at being a mother to them than I am a stepmother, so it probably comes down to be being the best of a poor choice.

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.
