I was running well but my furry companion was in a dawdling kind of mood which killed the pace a bit. Glad I went and feel good for it.

I have just been looking at my training log and noticed I have reached 300m already this year.... I have NEVER managed that before and never thought it possible, 300m in 11 weeks is definitely a NEWT whoop!
bottle that feel good for it feeling HP, furry companions can be great but when they are on sniff mode it does affect pace

Fells are generally steep, wild things. Fell runs, apart from short straight up and down on hands and feet kind of things, do require navigational skills. They tend to run from check point to check point and don't necessarily involve paths, trods or trails. The ability to switch off your brain for descents is recommended, as are grippy, low, non supportive shoes. Technically, I am in S. Wales, my hills are hills and not fells, as fells is really a Lake District regional term. It always involves ups and downs, whereas continental mountain running for example only goes down. Trail running involves trails and usually the route is marked, so no navigation required. It is a bit like orienteering thrown into a long run. Elevation is usually quite extreme, as well as the terrain...

That's a good idea Hann although I hope it won't mean we just get badge-hunters here rather than those genuinely jingling their newts.

The daffodils in our garden have finally bloomed today. They must be just about the last daffs in the village to do so but they have been buds for so long I was beginning to think they might never flower. So at the moment that's today's newt.

I would have thought Pen y Fan was pretty fell-like, Hann - though I have no idea how long it is since I've climbed it - there must be a fell race or two up and down that?
Two newts for me, I have been jabbed
but before that, I went out for over 3 hours "run" ( there was a lot of walking, slipping, and sliding) covering more than half marathon distance from home for the first time in over a year *does happy dance*
