Since I’ve been biking quite a bit recently I’ve decided to treat myself to some new 3/4 baggy shorts. I’m itching to get some bike packing kit too but waiting to see what I get for my birthday.

The Broadmoor siren has stopped going off at 10am on a Monday, I think it was last year. I kind of miss it, having heard it every week for decades!

I used to work near Broadmoor. Once I got stuck in a traffic jam after a real escape when the police closed the roads.

I'm ashamed to say that although I know what Broadmoor is, I didn't know where it was. Have just googled it- now I know. Another mini-newt

Indeed, Sundays don't count for Lent. I failed to get a newt today, but it's Sunday, so it doesn't count, right ;) My best made had his first covid jab this evening though.

Well, as you can see, I don't know much about Lent! Was vaguely brought up in weird Swedenborgian New Church until 7 or 8 (not a cult thing) then bog standard C of E Sunday school for year or two and Church Parades once a month with Brownies and Guides 'til I left at 13.

Non believer since then.

Am not confirmed. It was a big thing for lots of little girls when I was a kid. You got to wear a new posh, white frock. I was always up for a new frock but decided confirmation classes were a step too far...

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
