Today I saw the first magnolia flowers and took ds1 for a walk near Broadmoor, which somehow heโ€™d never been past despite it being only a few miles away!

Swizz, you've beaten me with the magnolias, Fleecy! :-) Nothing quite blooming here yet.

I did a placement at Frimley Park Hospital when I was a student and every so often a siren would go off and someone would say 'it's OK, they're just testing the alarm for if there's an escape from Broadmoor.'

Think I have mastered skip knots (not kidding, I had to replay the instruction video about 20 times.) Not mastered 'tension'.

Mr W was going to rent a room in nurse's house in Crowthorne. She said not to worry if the siren went off - the inmates all knew they were nurses homes and went the other way!

I thought Lent was 40 days but in my diary that only takes us to Palm Sunday. So 46 days to Easter Saturday. ANYWAY what I wanted to say is that we are half way through and there is no flagging.

Which is GREAT. starstarstarstarstar the lot of you. There's been such a brilliant selection of Newts this year - some even to do with running! More fab stuff this weekend: V-rap's jumper, .B.'s Yewt word, Hanneke's tutoring, Sarah's Mother's Day first, various cooking and clearing and noticing.

I've completed my first 'almost' normal week of training since before Christmas. It's new because I've had to make it work without access to a track and a gym and I think I have.

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
