Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

They are a tonic aren't they, Rae - they bring a bit of sunshine indoors.

My newt is our first ever grocery delivery from Iceland, due in the next hour. Next day delivery and no items missing from my order - that hasn't happened with any of the big supermarkets in the past year. I'd not thought of trying Iceland until I saw the van at a neighbours the other day.

Hello and good morning fellow newters! Today I started a new audiobook on my run!

I am a firm believer that everyone can draw or has some artistic flair within them. Like everything else it take a bit of practice and a little confidence! It’s not about trying to produce a photographic copy of a portrait! Start with simple mark making and doodling, look closely at how the light hits things, look at negative space around an object, the main thing I want to share is also that being creative or making art is good for you, enjoy the process and don’t worry about the results, try to recapture your inner child when every scribble was a masterpiece!

Hello everyone. I'm in this year too.
My newt yesterday (before I was looking for newts) was to run in a direction that I usually avoid because of a Big Hill. I really enjoyed it :)
Have just read yesterday's posts and there was so much good stuff going on - made me :) lots.
Not sure what today's newt will be but will report back later.

yesterday was good!
Today will be harder as it's tipping down with rain and I am on my turbo in the garage! Would a new virtual route count?!?!

Lgj I agree. I spent a lovely hour last night doodling away. Looking back at those pictures I realised I found my comfort zone (pencil portraits) and found it difficult to explore other options. I’d like to try different subjects and mediums now. I need to be OK with not feeling good at it.

I reckon a new virtual route would totally count Pix!

I unlocked Italy recently, so I'm quite looking forward to trying that soon. it's due to be 15 degrees and dry this weekend, though, so I'll probably go *outside* instead then.

Another, slightly unexpected Newt for me - more GRRRL awesomeness just arrived :D

(unexpectedly because I thought I'd get notice about needing to pay some customs charges as it's not of UK origin, not because I'd forgotten I ordered it. No customs charges! woop woop).

Watcher Newt Jingling Fetchsters.

Yesterday got off to a great start, ta everyone for your contributions and posts in general.

Don't worry about having to find something sparkly new every day. It's not (as they say) a race, or a parkrun. Or any sort of contest. Sometimes there's a build up to doing something new, sometimes you consolidate or widen the new thing.

However, if you keep your eyes and ears open and engage with the world there's a very good chance you'll be jangled in some way.

Yes, it’s the actively looking out for newts or making your own newts which is important I think :)

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
