Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It’s OK, I’m here...watching. Taking notes.

Second singing class tonight. I’ve done my homework. Sort of.

We had joint breakdown cover for, well ever really. Hubby bought a new car which had breakdown cover. We cancelled the joint one and I (thought) I added it to my car insurance. Car broke down (first time a car has broken down in about 20 years) on a motorway, on my way to an exercise class so in gym kit, it was freezing and I then found out for some reason the breakdown hadn't added. £230 later RAC recovered me to the garage. I now have breakdown cover

((very secretly my new skort arrived today too! no more discussion though)

Thanks for the warning, Vrap. AA is £39 this year including a £20 voucher. Last time I had it, it crept up to over £250.

I got as far as “joint breakdown” only half concentrating. Then you got my full attention gg before I realised you were talking insurance :-)

My newt today is to maybe make a work friend a true friend. There’s lots of people I get on with at work, some of them become nodding friends on Facebook, but true friendship requires a leap of faith I generally keep discrete. Only Peregrinator in recent years. We started with pictures of our pets, as is proper :-)

I am totally excited! More so than by the sight of many snowdrops driving over the top to Hay on Wye this morning. I went to the market and Deli for essential food shopping... And bumped into a friend ☺️ and.... Drumroll... We had coffee, takeaway, outside on a wall in the sunshine, with a pastry. It was proper!
Now, this may not seem newty to some of you, but I actually haven't had a spontaneous coffee with a friend since I visited my sister, first week of September. As we are not allowed to see anyone outside our household and my household consists of one person, I have been very lonely... First social coffee in 6 months! First of the year. Think that counts!
I realise how much I miss social interaction even more now though. I haven't stopped smiling, will be dining out on this one for a while and then after 8 March, I can even do this legally! 😊

'True friendship requires a leap of faith' - I like that, Dipps (must be my day for quotes). The work person obvs has great taste in dogs....

Finding yourself in collectable sticker form is a truly original newt.

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
