Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My newt is the first fritillaries (buds, not open) from the new set of bulbs. TBH they probably don't like the site, I've had a few in the past and they seemed to get smaller and fewer each year. Nice to have a sunny morning to wander round and have a look anyway.

My main newt is a bit weird. There was an article about activist, lecturer and ex designer, Orsola de Castro, in the Guardian yesterday I found very interesting. Mainly about not throwing clothes away (and not buying new stuff unnecessarily) De Castro's favourite quote was, er, quoted.

I am absolutely NOT an inspirational quotes kind of person, I usually hate that sort of thing and mumble something like 'find your own fucking words' but have had to make an exception - in other words - a NEWT. It's attributed to 18th century scientist Antoine Lavoisier.

Nothing is created and nothing is destroyed, but everything is transformed.

Now ain't that just pretty? You can apply it to the most trivial of things and to the grandest philosophical debates. I absolutely love it.

I even blogged it. Blogging an inspirational quote is definitely a new thing for me.

Not sure if this counts but I booked a holiday today. I had booked one for Easter, that obviously got cancelled so I’ve booked a new one for October half term.

Newt today was sitting outside to work on the patio for the first time this year! Finally the wind dropped and the clouds budged up as the sun set, it was nice out there listening to the birds

My newt today was recording the first episode of a new series of a podcast I'm involved with. So it's not a completely new thing but it's a new series so I'm claiming it

I’m loving all the Signs Of Spring Newts, and being a collectible sticker, and Han’s outdoor meet up.

But my Top Newt goes to Seren for her friendship leap of faith, because that is HARD.

I also picked one portion of wild garlic to put in my lunchtime salad. The leaves were quite small with hardly any stalk but there will be masses of the stuff everywhere very soon so I didn't feel bad about picking baby ramsons.

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
