Agree devolution is better and that Scotland need more powers and greater accountability to Hollyrood that would make the administration work and think harder .. I just don't want it to go as far as independence (Think there is a lot in this place too). Ideally a local income tax so that I can feel in my pocket the consequences of the decisions hollyrood take would be good (like the Canadian model for example) rather then just the spending of an allocation mechanism is the biggest potential positive change. The Scotland Act is giving us the start of some of these (Scottish Stamp Duty and Landfill tax and some very minor income tax variations) and the direction of travel is for more and a marginal referendum No result will support a continuation of that direction.

Tories - stated they will not agree on any new devolved powers before the referendum. If that's not jam tomorrow, then nothing is.
bbc.co.uk

Labour - MPs boycotting the part conference over plans to devolve tax raising powers to Holyrood (I've put the herald link on arhive.is to avoid the paywall)
archive.is

Lib Dems - dead in the water/irrelevant

I still think any opportunity given to raise money within the country will be offset with a reduction in the block grant, and you don't have to be too clever to work out if which one will have the greater value. Any powers devolved to Scotland will have to come with a guaranteed cost benefit to Westminster.

People's Republic of Aberdeen. Yay! Will they own the oil tho?

Generally good contributions. Nazis reference was a bit of a low point (though I think somewhat unintentional and retracted by the contributor, so fair play to him. Nazis were certainly nationalist, but I'd disagree they were very socialist, except in name. National Totalitarianist Facist Party, probably didn't have quite ring to it.).

I'm voting Yes for Hope. :-)G

I believe it was the current administration that gave us the Scotland Act 2012 after the Calman Commission that the SNP didn't want set up (and they didn't want the bill in the first place) .... so kinda weird that we have to thank the current administration for the bigest devolved fiscal responsibility since before the birth of Simon Cowell.

Republic of Aberdeen now I like the sound of that. We could make Emily Sande the queen and have "The Buttery" as our national currency.
