It was very quiet in here yesterday afternoon. I was in the ground yesterday, and my view was both Anderson and especially Broad were well below par, and yet Cook seemed happy to let things progress hoping something would happen rather than trying something different to make it happen.

Cook has inherited the famous Strauss passivity. Easy to do not a lot when your bowlers are knocking everyone over. Harder to be a good captain when you lack the resources. McCullum was very impressive in that regard. Ponting had it easy - need a wicket? I'll chuck it to Shane or Glenn.
