But as you say Dave they should have gone with Rashid in the West Indies. The top order collapses have been happening for a good while, these aren't based on a one off blip but sustained poor performance.
I can go with sticking with Lyth but Bells time is up.

Rashid isn't going to bowl any better (and will bat worse) than Moeen. One long hop and/or full toss an over.

I'd have Bairstow for Ballance.
I reckon that the crowd will help England a little more at Edgbaston (that's a polite way of saying that Lord's let in a million convicts and noone from the Barmy Army; this will not happen at Edgbaston, when the Aussies will have to deal with the might of the Eric Hollies Stand.)

I used to go to the lords test all the time, used to be good, very good, but it is corporate now, full of non cricket people as a result, the far end compton/edrich totally so. You only get it on ballot, even if you'd been going for years and years like I had.
Fuck em.

Indeed, although beer snakes are funny until one collapses on you!

I see Lancashire got a partnership of 501 for the 3rd wicket against Glamorgan today (and yesterday). Both batsmen are South African, before anyone gets ideas about calling them up for the Ashes...

I thought we like South African batsmen in the England team

Is there a better bowling attack in the country than Yorkshire one at the moment?
Sidebottom, Plunkett, Bresnan, Patterson, Brooks and Rashid.
It's almost not fair.
Bairstow another ton. Gale got 164 as well...

Unfortunately, both of them have already played quite a lot of cricket for SA in the past.
I think Ballance (Zimbabwe) & Stokes (NZ) are the only overseas born players in the England Ashes squad and Stokes did grow up here when his dad was playing/coaching rugby league in Cumbria. Probably the most English team we've had in more than a generation.
