Craig White and Graeme Swann - 2 others picked too early and who went back to CC and came back to international cricket to have a huge impact.

Wasn't Hashim Amla a bit crap when he first came into Test cricket? Coming into the side, being exposed, returning to county cricket and coming back stronger is quite a common thing, even for really good players.

Amla was awful first up, but you need to be a bit careful, how many england batsmen have we seen that got trashed early on and never recovered.

reading back. Anyone who scores 300+ in any game is inf orm, trouble is he's called Kevin Pietersena nd the Director of English cricket is on record as considering him a cunt, rightly or wrongly, and has already told him he's not playing.

As for the likes of Vaughan (a very good player, a good captain who was lucky with who was around at the time for him to pick) is just playing the miedia devil's advocate role and can be ignored on the KP issue.

Re the KP thing, apparently he was offered a 'development role' with the ODI side (he turned it down). If he was that poisonous and rancurous to have around the place, why on Earth would they offer him that sort of role working with the youngsters who will be needed to freshen that side up?

Gives some credence to the side of the story that says the main problem was he stood up to the Prior and the bowlers bully boy clique in the dressing room and was actually very good (and liked) by the youngsters/other members of the squad not in the clique.

Smacks of a Cook-Strauss stitch up this, which does not augur well for any hope that Strauss will look at Cook's form and captaincy objectively. I'd rather Cook felt uncomfortable and aware that he needs to perform, not secure knowing his mate and former opening partner will be his boss's boss for the forseeable. Also wonder if the ECB wanted Strauss for that very reason - someone like Vaughan may have wanted KP back.....

I reckon that could be right, Cook has played prett well in tests and might be the type that feels he needs backing. Like Vaughan and Fletcher, they were a management team in the end. So it seems fair enough to me.

I have the radio on, and Strauss sayd it was a matter of "trust", seems fair to me as well, as KP was stitching him up, or at least having a huge joke, via his mobile. Anyway, as before, with Balance Root etc, England don't need him.

It'll go away eventually. He's a middle-order batsman at the end of his career with a not very good test record this decade. We've got plenty of those already.

Am I right in thinking that Leicestershire (who KP got his 300 against) haven't won a county championship game since 2012? That's some record!

If England start the summer badly and it's all going tits up by, the second Ashes Test Match, I wouldn't rule out a dramatic recall for Pieterson like Boycott in 1977 after his spell in exile.

You may be right Teabers. Why the hell didn't Strauss just say he isn't playing for England ever again? I suppose it's because what he meant was he won't play as long as I'm in charge. Cook is captain for the summer it seems -well we will see.
