Wriggling Snake
I was think the last time it was a settled spot and it is sort of Knott, Taylor, Stewart, and Prior, we seem to have runs of not good good choices.......
Downton, not quite, Jones, not quite, richards, bairstow, read foster (hmm, should have played more), I think you must give Buttler an extended run.

Prior was awful when he first came into the team but with lots of hard work he became a fairly decent keeper. I see no reason why the same can't happen with Buttler

Slightly concerned if the Strauss rumours are true. Nothing against him, top bloke, great batsman, very decent captain. But you have to wonder - is he absolutely the best man for the job in hand, against all other candidates.
Or have th ECB gone for, in Sir Humphrey Appleby-speak, a 'sound man'. I heard Vaughan describe how the 2005 team was built, from identifying the type of cricket required 2 years, picking the players who could play the role and then playing like that, even through setbacks. Just the sort of thinking we need. I'd imagine Vaughan would be much more abrasive than Lord Brockett, who defintely fits their mould.
Hope I'm wrong and he can do the job well and be sound.....on the positive I have seen it noted he has a difficult relationship wth Moores,so hopfully no final chances, no 'enquiries' or 'reviews', he may just get rid.

Strauss is just bitter he didn't get the nod for the Kensington and Chelsea constituency for the Tories.

Far too 'sound' for the Tories...

strauss is a bit of a yes-man-box-ticker type. england have been like the south africa side of the late 90's for too long now, always trying to play risk free and going fpr the safest option - that ain't gonna work at this level anymore.
possibly alone in this, but I think they should have stuck with carberry through to this summer while they were grooming lyth/hales/robson/whoever. not sure i'd fancy them much on a headingley greentop with boult and southee bending it all over the place (not to mention what the aussies will do).

Good selection decision Whitaker. It was obviously wrong, why throw him out there for the third test. There's some fucking stupid people involved with English cricket.
