I'm happy Strauss has started in a ruthless fashion and sacked Moores. I hope he treats his mate Cook similarly if his lacklustre captaincy doesn't improve.

Doctor K
Apparently Strauss will give a news conference on Wednesday when he will comment on the future (or not) of Kevin Pietersen in the test side. Might be interesting as KP is currently 258 not out batting for Surrey !

Who's KP going to replace?

The only slot open is for an opener and he ain't an opener.

Cook? Unlikely. Ballance, Root and Bell all scored runs in the WI (ok Bell not in the greatest form, but still got a ton).

Will he replace Ali? No - because his offspin is terrible. Plus Joe Root cannot be the frontline spinner.

Stokes, Jordan? Well he could, but I suspect KPs pace bowling not likely to be any better.

Buttler - can he keep?

Then we're into Broad and Anderson who are both bowling ok at the moment.

So, unless they go to pick a very batting heavy side, there's simply no space for KP....

Depends on who gets the nod, but the team is most likely to be:

Lyth, Cook, Ballance, Root, Bell, Ali, Buttler, Bowler 1, Bowler 2, Broad, Anderson.

Where Bowler 1 and Bowler 2 are from: Rashid, Plunkett, Wood, Jordan, Stokes or pull someone like Harris from country cricket who's taking wickets...

Pieterson is making a compelling case for selection, it will be hard to ignore him if this triple hundred isn't a flash in the pan. Every great side has an X factor player and KP is that regardless what you think of him.

Only problem is the new director of English cricket thinks he's a c***

Personally I'm hoping Bowler 3 is not Broad as I think he's past his sell by date. He struggled to impress even against the lacklustre WI, and his batting has gone to pot.

Where does Joe Root play for Yorkshire these days? He used to be an opener.
