Started on time then. Local forecasters need to up their game 😉 Rainfall radar looks great - rain to the north, rain to the east, rain to the south, but nothing over Manchester and the wind is coming from the west, so should get at least an hour of play this morning. We'll surely lose some play today though.

The only 1st class cricketer I've met (to my knowledge) was Matt Brimson, Leicestershire 1993-1999, notable only really for his "prank" in the 2000 edition of Wisden where he exposed more than just a lack of judgement in the team photo.

I met a lot of players in 2005 when I helped out selling tacky shite for Paul Grayson's benefit year.

I played against Andy Pick in the Nottingham Evening League (also Sammy Chapman, Brynn Gunn, Steve Hodge, Steve Ogrizovic). Played indoor cricket with Phil De-Freitas and Kevin Cooper. Shared indoor winter nets with Ole Mortensen and Simon Base.

Trying to think if I've met a first-class cricketer or not. I was coached by Jeremy and Gareth Batty's dad and regularly went to his shop, but I don't think he ever played professionally, my mum went to school with David Bairstow and her brother played club cricket with/against him, my friend lived next door to then Yorkshire captain Phil Carrick. I had a few training days during school holidays at Yorkshire CCC camps but can't remember anyone obvious being there.
Might be a case of close but no cigar.
One player at school I thought may have played but on Googling him, looks like he had a couple of games for Northumberland only.
