Inspiring stuff. I've been a member at Essex, with breaks when I was living overseas or away in the UK, since the late 1970s. Finally found enough ready cash to convert to life membership when I turned 50 (2013).

One non cricketing thing I remember about the day, we went to a restaurant for lunch. My kid brother was so hungry, he started eating his dinner before the waiter had put his plate down.
