Anderson’s back in then.
I’ve noticed the women aren’t announcing their actual team until about 30 mins before the match - they’ve done this almost all series - whereas the men announce with far more notice. I know the players will know already but is it to keep the Aussies guessing for the women’s match?
Looking forward to the Taunton game tomorrow - it’d be great if we could get the ODI series and draw the Ashes 😀 to get to within three runs yesterday, and the reminder that Aus ARE the best team in the world, I hope the women can pick themselves back up. I had a brief chat with Kate Cross yesterday and it was clear just how low she was after the loss.
Nat Sciver-Brunt hadn’t even taken her pads off post match and was already signing stuff and talking to the kids and fans. They are such a brilliant bunch of women. Some of them - Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, Issy - really aren’t very old at all in the grand scheme of things and they have so much expectation and outside pressure to carry. I enjoy listening to Heather Knight talking about how relaxed the dressing room is because it would be so easy to have too much pressure on very young shoulders.

So many of them are really quite slight too. I always find that male cricketers look bigger in real life and the females, smaller.
Capsey, Wyatt and Knight are powerhouses for their size.

Moeen at 3 is nonsense. Anderson is done. Bairstow is patently unfit, out of form with the bat and gloves. Doesn't bode well for me.
Yes, some of the men are pretty big and powerhouse is the word, it's where the game is going.
Nice pic.

I mean it's pretty much the side that won the last test despite not being at their best...

It used to be that teams were announced at the toss and the players were generally told the night before.
Now England men seem to announce at least a day before for some reason.
I guess so they can put players up for the day before press conference and it's not about speculation about who's in and who's out.

Can't beat a day out at cricket in Arundel.
I spent a lovely day watching the 50 over game between Duke of Norfolk's II and MCC.
MCC won the game, despite a valiant effort by the Dukes to beat the MCC total of 268.
The Duke's no 6 narrowly missed getting a century, eventually caught out for 94.
Arundel is a lovely ground in the Castle, and is a classic place to watch cricket in the sun.
There's even a brewery at the entrance to the ground

Not suprising that the MCC won if they had 11 players and the others had 2......

I've just had a flashback. Didn't this used to be Lavinia, Duchess of Norfolk's XI? I've looked her up on wikipedia and she died in 1995! Aaagh!
