Some good points made that he was the player’s pal as a no. 2, and we ended up with good cop/good cop with him and Root. He seemed to over engineer things, rather than getting the basics in place. Recommendation was to go for a real abrasive hard man, which would back Root up and allow Root to be good cop as he could never be a hard man himself in the way Nasser was. A little like Eddie Jones bringing the edge back to England rugby after the Lancaster disaster. If the door bangs Silverback’s arse on the way out, he’d probably still see it as a positive to build on….
