Btw, Anderson is now only 5 tests shy of being the 2nd most capped Test player of all time.
Behind Tendulkar obvs.

"His keeping was scruffy all innings"
Standard.
Bairstow is the better keeper, but he's also the better fielder I think, so that's why they're doing it this way round.
Foakes still the best keeper around.
The number of "part-time" keepers in the hundred is a concerning trend - there'll soon be no room for keeper as a specialist position.

I would love to watch you meet Buttler fozzy. I do think you’d say strong. You’re a great white ball bat but your glove work is appalling.

I don't believe in saying anything on here or elsewhere that I wouldn't be prepared to say in person. I might, perhaps, be slightly more diplomatic and less blunt than the posts on here, but you know nuance is often lost without the visual and audible cues.
Is Jos Buttler a good wicketkeeper - by absolute standards, yes. In international test cricket standards, he's merely OK. However, he has improved dramatically since first doing it.
In international cricket terms he should have caught that chance this morning given he got a full glove on it. Tough yes, but also catchable, yes.
Compare to other wicketkeepers over time - particularly and especially Russell, but also watch Gilchrist, Healey etc.
Bairstow isn't the best international class wicketkeeper either, but an objective assessment of the two in parallel suggests Bairstow is the marginally better choice. (Note he was ropey when he first started in the test team too).
Foakes is the better keeper (by quite a lot) of all of them. The clue is in the foot work and the way they set up.
I don't think any of this is particularly controversial personally.
Gilchrist came in as an excellent wicketkeeper and an excellent batsman - that changed the equation - the batting became more important than the keeping. BG the keeping was the more important part.

And I don't think my criticism of Buttler is any worse than the criticism on here of Sibley, Burns, Vince etc.
So, Cheg, I hope you're going to take everyone else who posts a critical comment of a player to task too.

Haha. It was all in jest. There are 2709 pages comments I am not going back through that to keep score. I’d be amazed if there has been such a sustained period of criticism of any England player than you and buttler.
