ah the good old days when your old school shirts (and for the men their old work shirts) were the ones you wore for cricket.

The youth of today would understand that a white polo type tshirt generally wasnt available and was actually frowned upon as not being appropriate cricketing attire. I still remember when I found a mostly white tshirt (with a bit of yellow/blue) and felt like a rebel when I wore that in a 3rd XI game aged around 17/18

I have a team photo somewhere from 1978, I am wearing a white polo shirt with red and blue trim on the collar. Shocking!. I try and find it so I can assess the suitability of my 10 team mates.

At the end of school pre uni, and again at the end of my second year, I worked at Kimberley Clark for the summer. Their version of a boiler suit was white trousers and shirt. That kept me in cricket whites through uni and for the next 15 years or so.

I’ve known one day cup games go less badly than this, but not recently.

Currently rooting around in my drawer trying to find a fuck to give.

Fifty over cricket is even deader than it was a fortnight ago.

I can only wonder what damage Notts will do to our callow attack tomorrow but somehow won yesterday against more or less full strength Glamorgan. Apparently the Welsh fire is stoked from elsewhere.

Talking of kit, what's the etiquette on white-white cricket gear as opposed to cream-coloured whites?

When I played (mid 90s - early 2000s), Proper Kit was usually cream - both shirt and trousers - unless you were recycling an old work shirt (cf. Bazo's 09.56). It looks like first pro cricket and more recently village cricket have moved to dazzling whites straight out of a Persil ad...

Yes, I think most of my old kit would be cream coloured.
