Eeek - people younger than my parents are starting to die off. I don't remember Hendrick live, but I do remember him, Lever, Tavare, etc from the 80s BBC showing lots of 70s Test highlights on a wet afternoon...

I remember watching him on telly, he struck me as very accurate, a bugger to bat against, always got 4 wickets but not 5 and a a pretty decent bloke.

If I'm asked to remember cricket in the late 80s, I should remember Miandad and Hadlee on tour here, Gatting and Gower, the summer of four captains, the declining Botham... ... but no, the image that comes to mind is Tony Lewis on BBC2: "It's pissing down at Trent Bridge: here's Chris Old and Mike Hendrick bowling to a pair of Chappells". |

That photo is pretty much the England team I remember best. Don't think I ever saw a bowler with a more rhythmical, repeatable action than Mike Hendrick. |
