No, there's a yorkshire team, a surrey team, a middlesex team, a lancashire team, Warwicks, glamorgan, hampshire and notts.
I know this because they're playing at those county grounds.
No such thing as a "franchise" - we're not the sodding USA.
Bairstow, Malan, Root should be playing for Yorkshire - that's who developed them and/or pays their wages.

Imagine if Man Utd were told they couldn't play Rashford in the FA cup and he was going to play for Chelsea instead.
Total bollocks.

I have to admit to having paid no attention to the franchises. Afaik IPL is on the US model where they are rich people's playthings.
So who owns the Hundred franchises? Who pays the players and rakes in the cash? Who loses the money when it all goes tits up?

That is a good question, not sure it works like that at all, it is all ECB money. The draft, such that it is has fuck all to with counties, they all get a bit of money, the test match venues make more, which was the main problem, the draft is more to do with spreading the england qualified and overseas qualified players across the teams and than adds an IPL style contract cost, again as an attempt to level it all up.
No doubt as the the Hundred goes along those rules will change, I actually don't care much, I'll watch a bit, pop along to OT when I get the chance listen to a bit of TMS. The whole idea is to get people other than die hard old fuckers watching cricket and I reckon that will work, the later question will be what happens to T20 alongside.

I'll watch any cricket on free to view channels, just a pleasure to see anyone but the international players on highlights.

The major plus for me is all the women's games being televised (OK- sky pay per view). I'm enjoying those games more than the men's

Alastair Cook opening in a one day game, brings back memories of the 70s.
Good thing Middlesex set an old fashioned 4.26 per over target. By the way, that's 0.71 per ball for you hip Hundred watchers 😉.

I've changed my mind. I love the hundred. It is inclusive, and not stodgy/boring. And I get to watch the cricket with my 18 year old daughter.

1.5 million watched on the BBC for the very first women's game, 2 million for the first men's game, sky got 500,000. If that level keeps up it will be quite something.
