I was up with the lark at 4.45, very happy when the fifth wicket went and then we were just a touch loose, now 300+, I think it's all over, average first ining score at Perth, 313.....

England have only beaten them once there.

:-(

Mind you new ball, this is it, almost the last throw of the dice.

With 300 passed, suprised they haven;t declared and given us a nasty 20 minutes tonight....

I think they'll make late 300's, poss 400 and take this by an innings +.

We just cannot press home any slight advantage we get; the mental edge we had as a unit has gone.

With the Gobi Optimism Correction Factor in place, that means: over inside 3 days, which probably means that we end up following on even though we only needed 173 to avoid that. Worryingly easy to believe.

Yet again, we make a great start bowling which fades away into nothing as Oz do the reverse of a middle-order collapse.
And Cook's form with the coin remains appalling.

Bresnan is at best an indifferent holding bowler

Johnson will rip us apart, possible sub 100 England score

Tomorrow Johnson will get a 50 so he smashes our bowlers around and the Aussies will declare before lunch

We are then out before tea, Clarke goes into bat again and they declare by lunch on Day 3

Badger - I can see this over inside 3 days

Sad days when even I cannot see a draw

Ring Out, Frobstice Bells
Mike Selvey the other day said it was as if we were at the top of a bank of escalators coming down, and the Aussies were at the bottom of the escalators coming up. We're not really meeting in the middle though, are we.

I won't be getting up early tomorrow. The series was finally lost today. Too safe selections -Aggers was saying that Rankin and Finn aren't bowling well enough to be included -well they've hardly bowled at all recently but at least one of them could have given the Aussies a bit of a working over. Stokes bowls quick enough to be more aggressive too -England can't get out of the default defensive setting.

Yeah, it really grinds my gears that we pick a side to 'keep control of the run rate' but still go at 320+ per day. If we'd gone with the big quick guys, Australia may have been 350 all out by now, which I'd certainly take instead of what we're going to get.

A rather infuriated good morning, my dear old things!
