By definition, the Scottish system will only identify close contacts known to the infected person by name (eg family, friends, workmates, neighbours, the owner of the local corner shop.
It isn't going to embrace contacts within say large supermarkets, on a bus or train, etc

There wasn't a scrap of tinned meat or fish in Tesco when I went in on Thursday evening. I only noticed because that was what I was going to get to put in the food bank trolley. There also wasn't any Honey Nut Shredded Wheat. But I'm accustomed to random stretches of empty shelf when I go in late.

Is everyone stocking up in case of a very tight lockdown with 2nd wave, I wonder? THe Co-op seems to be struggling to keep shelves filled at the moment.
(I must admit to considering what we'd need for a fortnight and making some space in the freezer (by eating non-essentials like last year's raspberries, accordingly)

I'm feeling quite lucky. I got ketchup, HP sauce, mayo, salad cream, sunflower oil and tonic water at Tesco yesterday. No caster sugar though.

Does seem a bit pointless. How are businesses/wards going to cope if you’re naming all your work colleagues?
Not very anonymous if I have symptoms, self isolate, get tested positive and then state I’ve been in contact (socially distancing as much as possible) with numerous colleagues. I’d then be the only one back at work in 7 days if the rest have to isolate for 14 days!

ToF That sounds sensible. I am inclined to think such a system is more likely to be successful than the phone app in many of the circumstances where transmission is likely, though it won't cover contacts on public transport. I think that on public transport and other situations involving contact with strangers in enclosed places, masks will prove to be the most effective way to reduce transmission - though we probably need more effective public education about use of masks.
In general east Asians place higher value on family and society whereas Westerners place higher value on rights of the individual. CV-19 is providing Westerners with the challenge of demonstrating that it is possible for a Westerners to surrender some personal freedom for the sake of the well-being of the community. In fact the success of test, trace and isolate in Australia (along with other measures) demonstrates that it can be done.
