Its my Mum's birthday today and we will be doing a video call shortly :-)

Apparently though my parents are going to my brothers for tea tonight which means travelling from one area to another (albeit only c5 miles) and mingling indoors.

My daughter who works in a community pharmacy in Belfast had her jab today. She'd otherwise be very low priority - 24, no medical problems. She says all her colleagues in the pharmacy have been vaccinated without any significant side effects.

That's great news V'rap.

I would prioritise all public facing essential (i.e. working!) jobs now ahead of us work from homers / very occasional trip to shop or other essential trip, rather than just age.

This would disadvantage me, so I'm not saying it for any selfish reason.

Number of hours of contact with other people, outwith your control per week, should be the metric. Not just age. It would cover care homes because they are being looked after by people who might have it. And all shop, transport, health etc. workers.

If you work in a bank and can sit on your laptop at home and get shopping delivered, then sit tight (me!) :-) G

Agreed HappyG, I'm in a similar situation other than some very safe in person teaching. The staff working in our shop and library are at much higher risk just because of how many more people they are in contact with.

I think I'm fairly near the back of the queue anyway but I agree too.
I can sit tight at home for as long as it takes. Put all the teachers, supermarket staff etc in front of me.

There's definitely an argument to split the under 50s group or even under 60s in to groups dependent on how public facing they are.

I've accepted that I'm (quite rightfully) going to be vaccinated last.
Full wfh capability, relatively young, fit, not-overweight et.

I think that category 10 (under 50s) might look like:
1. public facing workers (essential)
2. public facing workers (non-essential)
3. over 40s
4. students
5. everyone else - perhaps with payment to jump the queue.

I still think that over 50s should be done before key workers, due to mortality/mortality risk being a magnitude higher in this group.

I may not be in the right thread but my mum has her vaccinations letter but they are asking her to travel to London and it’s too far for her to go and she doesn’t drive. Does she just wait for the doc to send her one for the local centre where my aunt went . Obv the doctors surgery aren’t answering calls about it. ?

Crikey Beans, that sounds a bit weird. What’s the info on the letter, have you seen it? Harold Rd surgery have sent texts saying wait and you’ll be contacted.

Harold road used Kings on the ridge according to East Sussex healthcare but this is an invite to London. She’s tried phoning the surgery but you get answerphone saying they not dealing with vaccination queries no other options. She obv panicking as she very vulnerable and it doesn’t say what she should do. I haven’t seen it as I can’t go near her.

Someone I know got a letter asking them to travel to Stratford (London) for their jab.
She nearly booked it (not too far to go but would have meant going on public transport to get there) but left it for a day or two while she thought about it. In the meantime she was contacted by her local GP and is now going to her local vaccination hub - a 2 mile walk away.

So I'd say wait for a local appointment
