Love that idea HappyG! My husband (shielding) got a text including a booking link for his vaccination yesterday. No choice of where to go, so it's a nearby (10 miles or so) drive. No possibility of getting there by public transport if you didn't drive. We may go early before the 9:10 am appointment in order to have a walk somewhere different. Before 9 on a Sunday should be pretty quiet.

Where did you get fp?
We're likely, I think, to get one in Salisbury. Either the GP organised one in the Cathedral or the 'mass' one round the corner at City Hall.

JB you're Stratford aren't you? My dad had his (Pfizer) at the hospital a couple of weeks ago. Mum (same age, within 5 weeks) had AZ at the same hospital a week later! (for non locals, this "hospital" is tiny, outpatients only with a collection of other services like physio, dental, GP etc) I'd have thought set sites would have set vaccines, but evidently not.

I am. That's a puzzle. I'd assumed the AZ ones were for household vaccinations because of the cold chain being easier to manage.
Perhaps it's just what they have in the cupboard on the day.

BK brighter days ahead
UK probably has a lot more of the AZ vaccine so once that was approved it became the primary vaccine leaving the Pfizer currently available and on order to the cover second jabs for those in the initial round.

Yup, "cupboard on the day" is fine, as long as booster also available. Then again, I had to go to the QE for my work vaccine and I'm just hoping my booster will be done on time (booked 12 weeks after)

I don’t know if it’s been asked before but is anyone assessing whether patients getting one dose of each vaccine are protected?

I suspect that because they're both based on the spike protein that the response would be pretty good if you got one of each. I think they were testing it with AZ first because they were concerned that some people could build immunity to the adenovirus vector and kill it off before the spike protein was detected. It would be more expensive to do that than give two doses of AZ, so I'm assuming they'll want to see how the two doses do first. Also there was the possibility of the first being a half dose working better than a full dose which should also be investigated.

My father had his jab at the local clinic (300m from home). My mother, and several of her friends, had hers at Big Town Town Hall, 5 miles away. Her second jab apparently will be at the college, another couple of miles distance.
Observationally, the ambulant seemed to be at the town hall, those with limited mobility at the clinic.
My mother got the BioNTech, my father AZ. She had a pretty sore arm for a couple of days, he hasn't, but has been tireder today. Also, she had to wait post jab, my father and all the others there were huckled straight oot the door. Whilst the tv news EU vaccine hoo-ha was on, I happened to look at the info she'd been given post vaccine. Hers was made in Germany.
