In original lockdown if the dog didn't run with me I tacked a dog walk on to the end of my run. For a small puppy I would consider a small walk is for the care of the animal rather than for exercise of yourself

I know our neighbours won’t mind at all, many of them are either shielding or like us have dogs and also exercise. If there was wild parties and meeting with others completely different story.

Thankfully I only have one house near enough to potentially see how many times I go out, and they aren’t the curtain-twitcher sort.

Anyone lucky enough to have neighbours who count the number of times they go out should, erm, consider moving house or contacting the police.

Can't even see dog walking referenced in the regulations.

Animal care is referenced.

What, to you, constitutes animal care/welfare.

No I couldn’t neither. Last time you definitely could do both my brother & sil have a livery yard and they had to check with local police and they confirmed looking after animals
Including walking dogs was additional to your personal daily exercise that was not time constrained.

This is their definition:

Animal welfare reasons – you can leave home for animal welfare reasons, such as to attend veterinary services for advice or treatment.
