TeeBee - the discussion you mentioned on the previous page is on “How to Vaccinate the World” (presented by Tim Harford of More or Less) - the 14th December episode on vaccine hesitancy. The whole series is well worth a listen.

Ah yes. I was sure it was Tim Harford, so that makes sense.

What's the thoughts on 'socially distanced' meet ups tonight ? One of my neighbours is trying to arrange something at 11:45 which I to be honest could do without but also think is technically not allowed - even if we stand apart in our family groups..

Its also freezing and snowing

Hmm for Bazo. Maybe if the street formed two socially distanced lines and one walked by the other, again at a suitable distance, and everyone bade each other a guid new year (with their own drinks of course) it would fall at least within the letter of the law, if not perhaps the spirit.

Although I can see how everyone getting outside and just seeing each other and doing something would be a positive thing, and the risk of transmission in such a circumstance would be very close to zero, even if anyone was infected. Rather less than with random uncontrolled movement in shops, for example.

I think we can do it without being any closer than when we speak across the garden fence etc so very little risk

I would rather be in my warm house

How about standing in the doorway and raising a toast from there?
I'm seeing no one tonight, I have a bottle of champagne to get through. Celebrating the end of this dreadful year

We are doing a virtual drink with family this evening. Like Baz would rather be in a warm house.

Some of the cul de sacs around here have arranged to wrap up and stand at the end of their drives with a drink at 7pm, midnight seems a bit of a stretch!

Good news on the vaccine, my allergy is wasp stings and I doubt they are used in any of the formulations😊.
