Having visited a prison many years ago, the way I live is nothing like it.

One thread is for discussion and the other is for support. I've not been down the pub. I do the shopping for my mum and drop it at her gate for a socially distanced chat. She has bubbled with another single friend and they walk and socialise together. My OH visits his mum because she has no other support. Both of our mums are elderly and vulnerable, and we are the nearest contact for them both. It's rubbish, but they are both getting the support and contact they need |

I think we could use the theory of the micromort, a one in a million chance of dying, as a way of comparing how risky something is to something else: en.wikipedia.org Drinking and smoking are surprisingly risky if the table on that page is to be believed. This has also been extended into the microcovid, a one in a million chance of catching covid: microcovid.org which also has a "calculator" for covid risk. |

So we have two threads getting firebombed on a regular basis now. Ah well. Whoever thought that Grouse shoots would be covid secure clearly hasn't ever been anywhere near one. Beaters from the local area, guns from all over the place, chuck in a bunch of WAGS copious amounts of booze. I'd say it's just as risky as any number of outdoor activities that are currently restricted. Deer stalking is generally the guide plus a couple of guns max. As part of my post Brexit diversification business plan we offer photo stalks where you get the crawling around in the peat bog experience with a camera instead of a gun. Haven't done any since lockdown but I would think it would be relatively safe. |
