If this is true then it looks like we're headed for lockdown again so maybe they should do it sooner rather than later: theguardian.com |

Last Christmas, rules changed one day before our daughter was due to fly up. Please god, not again.

Aw. I hope not, Tim. I’m resigned to my Christmas holiday not going ahead. We booked it when we thought that the possibility of restriction free travel seemed a reasonable idea. I just hope the restrictions don’t get changed while we’re away like last year!

Well we've just found out that the Stonehaven Fireballs ceremony is going ahead on 1st January (shanksi and I are swinging fireballs) and we will have to check vaccine passports of the crowd before they can be let in. We are talking about 1000s of people. Hmmmm

Our favourite local hotel/restaurant has gone from 280 covers this weekend to 18 due to cancelled Christmas events. This will kill a lot of places who’ve struggled to survive lately. We are lucky enough not to be hugely impacted by any potential Christmas restrictions. I really feel for people who are due to have family travel/travel to family, and truly hope they are not screwed over again. |

We went to an Italian Restaurant tonight. Pretty full and two covers through the evening on many tables.

I’m keeping my crossed for you that it doesn’t happen again Tim. When is she due to fly up? We’re due to get the train to London next Friday to see my family in London. Keeping my fingers crossed nothing changes between then and now. The late level 4 lockdown in Wales last year meant neither OH or I could see our families last year - it turned out to be FiL’s last Christmas, as he died this August OH feels guilty about not seeing him last year, even though it wasn’t his fault. mrs shanksi, I have to ask - what is a fireball ceremony? M_N, I did see about the huge number of cancellations many Scottish venues have experienced - I do hope it doesn’t push some of them out of business. |
