Eventually they filled it in and now it's just another a part of Parliament Street paving. Funnily enough, it's predecessor of a similar design but of Victorian vintage at the other end of the road didn't used to have the same problem.]

It might be the general design of the structure that's of interest, it's basically a cut and cover oval, with the cover bit formed by the plinth of a statue of Queen Victoria. There are fittings labelled as "Thomas Crapper" in the Parcel Yard pub on Kings Cross Station. Their authenticity, I don't know about, as I'm not sure how much of what was refurbished when Kings Cross was turned into a place to want to spend some time.]
