I was watching football tonight had I watched Wimbledon or Grand Prix I’m sure I’d have thought same - however rarely do those fans behave the way football fans behave.

I wasn’t blaming fans I was blaming govt, but images of people in bars not sitting down on own tables instead leaping around hugging each other.

When I went to our local 2 weeks ago that was less than 30% full I couldn’t sit with friends who were already there as we didn’t book a table together and we weren’t allowed to visit other tables.

It is why Im comfortable going there but hardly seems fair.

I have been moaning about a full Wimbledon. And I don't watch the Grand Prix.

Any large organised gathering allowed without restrictions is a) silly at this point given the case rate and b) makes the restrictions the rest of still have to follow look unfair and possibly pointless.

I'm also in a job where a large spike in hospital admissions will have a direct and negative effect on me personally.
So I'll continue to moan if I feel like it.

That said, there doesn't appear to be a corresponding rise in hospital admission rates yet. But after the last 16 months I'm just waiting for the other show to drop.

My son in law got a warning from the organiser of the squash league he plays in because he was asking his opponents about their COVID vaccination status before getting into a tiny room and letting them breathe heavily in his airspace and this was causing offence. I'd have thought a responsible sports captain in this situation would at the very least expect players to do a lateral flow test before each match. But nope, nothing, if you want to play you suck up the risk.

Fuzzyduck - that government response looks like a parody! Ridiculous response to a FOI request.

I’m in the Novavax trial and asked about this at my last appointment. I was told there are issues with manufacturing holding up approval - possibly something to do with changing the vial size. It is frustrating as it’s an effective vaccine.

Yikes the tubes round Wembley yesterday. (I was on them)! Yikes!

PS Tube travel not the least bit worrying in general - I've been 'doing' central London for months.

I was on a train up to London yesterday which had large groups of England football supporters on board. None of them were wearing masks, either on the train or on the concourse. Pretty difficult to drink beer with a mask on, I guess.

and in a shocking turn of events
England's Euro 2020 progress could be behind infections rising faster among men than women in the past two weeks, Imperial College London data suggests.

Yet if I go to church I can't take communion, have to sit socially distanced with a mask and am not allowed to sing (this may actually be a good thing)

Different religion I suppose...
